Teacher Assistant

This is a varied role for someone who enjoys working directly with students, supporting teachers and taking ownership for ordering and organisation of practical workspaces.  The role provides support in the areas of:

• Food and Design – supporting the effective delivery of Food, Textiles and Design programs by assisting teachers with practical lesson preparation, supervising students during hands‑on activities, and maintaining safe, organised specialist spaces to ensure high‑quality learning experiences.
• Learning Support and Enhancement - by providing in class support of students under the direction of the classroom teacher as well as performing general support and administration duties.   This includes supporting students in both the primary and secondary school.

About You

The successful applicant will bring a strong understanding of supporting students with diverse learning needs, along with the confidence to work in busy practical environments such as kitchens, textiles rooms and design spaces.   You will have:

• Demonstrated experience supporting students in a school or educational setting, including working with students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Knowledge of safe work practices and the ability to support the safe use of equipment, materials and specialist spaces.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate positively to students and staff.
• Experience providing practical support in specialist learning environments such as food, textiles, design or similar settings will be highly regarded but not essential.
