We are seeking a proactive and organised Assistant Facilities Manager to help oversee our operations. In this role, you’ll support the Facilities Manager with managing the security, maintenance and presentation of the school facility, ensuring our school stays safe, clean, and welcoming.

This is a newly created role to further support the operation as the school expands and has a number of significant building projects.

The role

The Assistant Facilities Manager supports the Facilities Manager to manage the operations, security, maintenance and presentation of the school’s facilities.  The role will:

  • Support the Facilities Manager in the day-to-day coordination of Facilities operations, ensuring priorities are planned, resourced and delivered to a high standard.
  • Lead and support the administration of the School’s facilities software platforms.
  • Mentor and coach facilities team members on maintenance practice.
  • Oversee equipment and plant requirements across Facilities and Grounds, ensuring servicing schedules and training records are maintained, faults are reported promptly and equipment is safe, fit for purpose and available when needed.
  • Actively perform of the physical work of the facilities team as required.

The ideal candidate

The Ideal candidate will have experience in facilities management, strong communication skills, and a positive can-do attitude. You will be comfortable liaising with contractors, handling administration, and responding to issues as they arise.  You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous facilities management experience
  • Strong operational leadership, with a willingness to work alongside the team in delivering day-to-day maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Proven experience and ability to lead and develop a small team.
  • Relevant qualifications.
  • A strong working knowledge of work, health and safety practices as they relate to facilities management.
  • A high level of attention to detail in both the day-to-day facilities maintenance and longer-term facilities projects.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • A high level of energy and physical capability to perform the required tasks in an outdoor environment.
  • A positive attitude, high level of flexibility and well-developed interpersonal skills.

This is a full-time role across the full year.  Some flexibility with hours may be available and participation in a rotational Saturday roster and/or on call responsibilities will be required.
